For the past two weeks, the girls in Scoil Bhríde Cailíní have been making an extra special effort to speak cúpla focal as Gaeilge (some words in Irish), as part of the school’s celebrations for Seachtain na Gaeilge. Seachtain na Gaeilge is the period before St. Patrick’s Day where we celebrate all the important things that are special to Ireland – dancing (ag damhsa), singing (ag canadh), drama (drámaíocht), poetry (filíocht), ceol (music) – and of course, the Irish language.
Over the past two weeks, the girls in the school have taken part in a concert, a céilí, tóraíocht taisce (treasure hunt), cluichí sa chlós (yard games), tráth na gceist (quiz) and bingo, all of which were enjoyed while speaking and learning as much Irish as possible.
The girls all really enjoyed themselves and it was wonderful to hear Irish being spoken throughout the school!
